The way things are now is why I have a day job (well 2 but they don't over lap as both are seasonal.) Those are steady and reliable and can help pay the bills. I'll keep writing and creating for fun and any money is a cherry on top. Of course, I gotta admit there a part of me that hopes a strike of luck or persistence will work out and the writing will end up steady and reliable to be the thing paying the bills. But I'm not betting on that, so I'll do my best to enjoy the ride.
It seems less and less like something to rely on, and I wish that wasn't the way. I wish we could count on some form of reliability from all the work we do. But, I keep coming back to Dory - just keep swimming! Whatever the future holds, imagination, creativity and persistence can still win out

Loved the Don Bluth story! Ai is so frustrating. Even when I'm looking for reference photos I'm finding myself having to google if a bird is a real bird or even human references. Ai is everywhere. Hang in there!
I completely agree about AI! As a creator it’s been concerning me increasingly. I may not be posting sketches for Mermay, but I will be recreating a mermaid’s costume from an old 60’s show, and that is going to be fun because normally I only make clothing that’s relatively practical. This will still be wearable, but glitter and tassels, yes please!
I have tried Mermay a few times. But I never get stuck. To lets be honest here, no challenge get me stuck. 🤣 But I might do something with the team water for MerMay this year around. We will see what it will be 😁
