In relation to the awesome final girl trope in film, - kinda - have you heard of the video game Until Dawn? I know it’s kinda different when you’re the player and it’s your own choices to keep this group of characters alive that are stranded on a snowy mountain with multiple murderous persons/events, but the way the story is told, there is this one character (female) that is kept alive until the big finale, she can still die at the end depending on your choices, but the whole concept of a final girl is written out by the game’s writers/developers, plot armor and whatnot haha. I haven’t played the game but watched a couple streams online because the storytelling in some narrative games are fantastic! And in Until Dawn - it’s acted out by well known actors such as Hayden Panettiere (final girl) and Rami Malek.
I love this! I'm not a gamer so I dont know the game but I love this example if the final girl outside film! Video games seem like the perfect place for final girls. Also, Hayden Penetierre!? I'm intrigued!
There’s a comedy sketch show I like called Studio C. In one Halloween themed sketch, a group of friends are being chased by a masked killer. One of the friends trips over and thinks she’s done for, but the masked killer runs past her and continues to go after her friends. After several more encounters with the masked killer in which he ignores her and continues to go after her friends, she goes from being bewildered to frustrated to the point of locking him and herself up in a nearby cabin and voicing her feelings to him about the whole thing.
I’m not sure if this counts, but I nonetheless thought it was a pretty hilarious subversion of the final girl trope.
Oh my gosh you need too. It’s definitely more comedy than horror (so it’s more up my alley lol) but it is absolutely delightful and the trope play is hilarious. And, ya know, Alan Tudyk who can basically do no wrong.

My favorite recent final girl is Tree from Happy Death Day, she gets to continually fail and grow into her final girl status and I’m there for it.
