I saw mention of Angela Carter and Edgar Allan Poe and it brought back nice memories of university English class. This Listy List is so interesting! I selected the links to learn more.

Can you tell me about Naomi Novik’s collection? When you say, “cozy”, do you mean it is on the lighter side, closer to fantasy than supernatural? I love fantasy and also like science-fiction. I am interested in learning more about her collection, especially as I want to revisit writing short stories. One of her stories takes place in a world from one of her novels, is that correct? Ooh!

PS. I am reading one of Chuck Wendig’s books on writing! The first I read was so funny. I saw he wrote a new fiction story and now I better understand what it is from your newsletter :)

Hi Marisa,

I havent read the Naomi Novik short stories yet but yes they are supposed to be from the different worlds of all her stories! And yes, her stories are a lot of fairytale retellings and fantasy! Its cozy in that they are the kind of books to curl up with a blanket and warm drink and get lost in them for hours!
