Dear new story idea,
I don't know you.
You make me uncomfortable and deeply unsure of myself.
I'm not even sure I like you, to be honest.
You're awkward and undefined. When I ask questions of you, you never have answers. You just have vibes - dark, angry, frightening vibes.Â
But the little glimpses you give into what you're all about - they're exciting and intriguing so I'm hanging around you more than I should. I have work to do, other stories, stories and characters I know very well that need me to finish them, to be their best selves.
And you're distracting from all that.
Who invited you here anyway? I didn't ask for this. Didn't ask for you. Yet here you are, getting in my face and asking for my attention when I don't have the time or inclination to get into it with you.
No. I don't think I like you very much at all.
And even if I did like you, and all your magical flourishes, fascinating mysteries and interesting characters, even if I LIKED all that - I have more than enough other stories on my plate.
I simply don't have time.
I'm just one person! Don't you see this isn't just up to me? This is mortality talking!
Begone, new story idea. I don't want you.
What I'm Working On
It’s nearly October and that means I’m hard at work putting together a new halloween mini comic! Paid subscribers helped to choose the final concept and the winner was: Howl Pass!
A mild, self-conscious tween wrestles with her new-found wild side once a month when the moon is full and her werewolf alter ego emerges.
I’m putting together the ebook of Unicorn Death Drive for Paid Subscribers and am hoping to post the first chapter for everyone either this Friday or next! A bit about the book:
Prepare to be HORNified...
Nat Wick has always had a problem with authority.
Which is why her folks and the judge decide to ship her off to Second Chance Ranch, a rehab getaway for delinquent teens.
So when the program coordinator plans a cattle drive for the teens, Nat sees her chance to escape. But trust falls, guidance counselors, and angry roommates might not be so bad compared to the dangers that lurk somewhere in those hills --
Dangers that shouldn't exist.
Dangers that are hungry.
Dangers with horns.

What I'm Reading
The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden - number three in The Bear and the Nightingale trilogy, Katherine Arden’s writing is so vivid and lyrical and that’s the kind of story I’m craving this time of year.
And that’s it from me! What are you reading?
What an absolutely delightful story line.
Lovely 🥰
