Yessssss I am here for this!!! I'm actually quite picky about my romance movies, because the ones I like are my absolute favorites of ever, but am ALWAYS here for this energy and the tropiest tropes. I recommend the movie Marty from the 1950s, and Sabrina, the 1995 Harrison Ford version.

It’s about two older really quirky and overlooked people who find each other and it is so validating and lovely.

"I'm trying to pay attention to what my art is asking and deliver what it needs right now, which is words and new stories." Ooh I love this way of seeing things. Since I got more into visual art and painting, I've been thinking more about my creative shifts and how to balance different mediums that I love. I've been in a bit of a painting frenzy the last month or so, and while I know it's important to me to maintain my daily writing practice (or drawing practice if I'm in writing mode), I'm learning that it's okay to lean into whatever is pulling my attention the most--it doesn't have to be a perfect balance.

I 'm also not super familiar with the romance genre but I love this drawing challenge! I'm a sucker for a good enemies to lovers plotline (also the "everyone know the two main characters are in love except the two main characters" OR the romance that kind of appears seemingly out of the blue, but once it does it makes so much sense).

Good Omens is definitely one of my comfort watches and reads. I would be all here for a Crowley/Aziraphale Christmas special.

Which reminds me of ANOTHER A+ trope: the optimistic/maybe a bit a naive ray of sunshine who's secretly a BAMF paired with the dark and brooding character who's secretly in love with the ray of sunshine and is actually a cinnamon roll .

lol cinnamon roll! I love this.

Also so glad you are finding more flexibility in your creative routine! A painting frenzy sounds awesome.

I admit, for my mental health, I'm ignoring most mainstream news. I just CANNOT DEAL.

Looking forward to what you create, be it words or art. ❤️

Yes! I feel so much better now that I'm limiting my news watching.

And thanks so much for reading :)

This time of year, the inevitable marathon of Christmas movies has begun, much of it romance to the delight of my teen daughter and the dismay of my son. But, we all tend to just get sucked in and enjoy it as a famil6, whether it's Hallmark, Netflix or one of the other streaming options out there.

I just saw your reply! 😳 I don’t know how technology works.

And ummm, I don’t have a tv, just the regular streaming services, though I’ currently not subscribed to Netflix.
