It’s that time again- Listy List Time! And April’s is a doozy! I’ve been collecting a ton of great stuff and I hope there’s something in here that gets you excited.
If you’re new here, the Authorstrator Listy List is a roundup of what I think are the most interesting bits and bobs I collect for all the lists I keep in my notebooks over the course of the month! My TBR, my watch list, my list of arty things I want to try out. And I’m always on the lookout for more, so if you’ve got a great recommendation for a read, a watch, or arty stuff, I invite you to share your latest finds in the comments!
Here we go!
The Reading List
My Murder by Katie Williams - I guess its a sci fi thriller? But also funny. Just an overall great time. Lots of twists and turns. Grabs hold of the True Crime phenomena and takes it to a futuristic extreme. Quick and fun read.
Honey - Isabel Banta - as a product of late 90s/early 2000s pop music, this YA is calling my name. It follows the rise of a young pop star at the start of the new millennium.
Empire of Ai by Karen Hao - A nonfiction for the reading list, this one bills itself as a critical, eye-opening account of the AI arms race and I am ready.
Flyover Country by Tim Maughan - Brian Merchant’s newsletter
published this really great short story about a near future world that feels ominous in the current moment. The Watch List
The Studio - Starring Seth Rogan, and peppered with guest appearances, I’ve been pretty impressed with this one! On the surface its a story about some film executives, but the show is really creative with the way it presents each new episode. Excited to see where this one goes.
Black Mirror episode Common People - The first episode of the new season of Black Mirror is a gut punch - a married couple find themselves leaning on a tech company for a miracle cure and Hoo boy. Chilling.
Murderbot!!! - the trailer for Martha Wells’ amazing sci fi story is here and it looks AMAZING. It doesn’t come out til May so if you haven’t read Murderbot yet, add it to your reading list!
The Art List
Creating Bluey - As a big Bluey fan, I was so excited to see former art director for the show

I love making character sheets - I guess because its such an exploration and experimentation process.
’s Art Gym had a great post about things to watch out for to keep your characters consistent. And that’s it from me!
What’s on your list this month?
